Further Sunyaev-Zel'dovich observations of two Planck ERCSC clusters with the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager
We present follow-up observations of two galaxy clusters detected blindly via
the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect and released in the Planck Early Release
Compact Source Catalogue. We use the Arcminute Microkelvin Imager, a dual-array
14-18 GHz radio interferometer. After radio source subtraction, we find a SZ
decrement of integrated flux density -1.08+/-0.10 mJy toward PLCKESZ
G121.11+57.01, and improve the position measurement of the cluster, finding the
centre to be RA 12 59 36.4, Dec +60 04 46.8, to an accuracy of 20 arcseconds.
The region of PLCKESZ G115.71+17.52 contains strong extended emission, so we
are unable to confirm the presence of this cluster via the SZ effect.Comment: 4 tables, 3 figures, revised after referee's comments and resubmitted

A Gauss-Kuzmin theorem for continued fractions associated with non-positive interger powers of an integer
We consider a family of interval maps introduced by
Hei-Chi Chan [5] as generalizations of the Gauss transformation. For the
continued fraction expansion arising from , we solve its
Gauss-Kuzmin-type problem by applying the method of Rockett and Sz\"usz [18].Comment: 18 page
Differential expression of exosomal microRNAs in prefrontal cortices of schizophrenia and bipolar disorder patients
Exosomes are cellular secretory vesicles containing microRNAs (miRNAs). Once secreted, exosomes are able to attach to recipient cells and release miRNAs potentially modulating the function of the recipient cell. We hypothesized that exosomal miRNA expression in brains of patients diagnosed with schizophrenia (SZ) and bipolar disorder (BD) might differ from controls, reflecting either disease-specific or common aberrations in SZ and BD patients. The sources of the analyzed samples included McLean 66 Cohort Collection (Harvard Brain Tissue Resource Center), BrainNet Europe II (BNE, a consortium of 18 brain banks across Europe) and Boston Medical Center (BMC). Exosomal miRNAs from frozen postmortem prefrontal cortices with well-preserved RNA were isolated and submitted to profiling by Luminex FLEXMAP 3D microfluidic device. Multiple statistical analyses of microarray data suggested that certain exosomal miRNAs were differentially expressed in SZ and BD subjects in comparison to controls. RT-PCR validation confirmed that two miRNAs, miR-497 in SZ samples and miR-29c in BD samples, have significantly increased expression when compared to control samples. These results warrant future studies to evaluate the potential of exosome-derived miRNAs to serve as biomarkers of SZ and BD
High angular resolution observation of the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect in the massive z=0.83 cluster ClJ0152-1357
X-ray observations of galaxy clusters at high redshift (z>0.5) indicate that
they are more morphologically complex and less virialized than those at
low-redshift. We present the first subarcmin resolution at 18 GHz observations
of the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect for ClJ0152-1357 using the Australia
Telescope Compact Array. ClJ0152-1357 is a massive cluster at redshift z=0.83
and has a complex structure including several merging subclumps which have been
studied at optical, X-ray, and radio wavelengths. Our high-resolution
observations indicate a clear displacement of the maximum SZ effect from the
peak of X-ray emission for the most massive sub-clump. This result shows that
the cluster gas within the cluster substructures is not virialised in
ClJ0152-1357 and we suggest that it is still recovering from a recent merger
event. A similar offset of the SZ effect has been recently seen in the `bullet
cluster' by Malu et al. This non-equilibrium situation implies that high
resolution observations are necessary to investigate galaxy cluster evolution,
and to extract cosmological constraints from a comparison of the SZ effect and
X-ray signals.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures, submitted to ApJ
A Sunyaev-Zel'Dovich-Selected Sample of the Most Massive Galaxy Clusters in the 2500 deg^2 South Pole Telescope Survey
The South Pole Telescope (SPT) is currently surveying 2500 deg^2 of the southern sky to detect massive galaxy clusters out to the epoch of their formation using the Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect. This paper presents a catalog of the 26 most significant SZ cluster detections in the full survey region. The catalog includes 14 clusters which have been previously identified and 12 that are new discoveries. These clusters were identified in fields observed to two differing noise depths: 1500 deg^2 at the final SPT survey depth of 18 μK arcmin at 150 GHz and 1000 deg^2 at a depth of 54 μK arcmin. Clusters were selected on the basis of their SZ signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) in SPT maps, a quantity which has been demonstrated to correlate tightly with cluster mass. The S/N thresholds were chosen to achieve a comparable mass selection across survey fields of both depths. Cluster redshifts were obtained with optical and infrared imaging and spectroscopy from a variety of ground- and space-based facilities. The redshifts range from 0.098 ≤ z ≤ 1.132 with a median of z_(med) = 0.40. The measured SZ S/N and redshifts lead to unbiased mass estimates ranging from 9.8 × 10^(14) M_☉ h^(–1)_(70) ≤ M _(200(ρmean)) ≤ 3.1 × 10^(15) M_☉ h^(–1)_(70). Based on the SZ mass estimates, we find that none of the clusters are individually in significant tension with the ΛCDM cosmological model. We also test for evidence of non-Gaussianity based on the cluster sample and find the data show no preference for non-Gaussian perturbations
